Peter AngelakosExecutive Chef
Peter is currently the Executive Chef of Italiana's in New City, NY where he has been since the inception of the trendy brick oven pizzeria/family style restaurant in January 2013. Other restaurants in the group include Roxanne's in Mahwah, NJ and Varka Estiatorio in Ramsey, NJ.
Previously, he was the Executive Chef of Bacari Grill in Washington Township, where he took over the reigns of the kitchen in February 2007. It was a homecoming for the chef who held the same position from 1997 to 2000. There he created eclectic American dishes for his seasonal menus.
Prior to that, he held the same positions and Bacari's sister restaurants, Oakville Grille in Hawthorne in 2004, followed by a short stint at Pacific Grill in Paramus. This was after a personal four year venture where he fulfilled a longtime dream when he and his brother Stavros took over Sonoma Grill in East Rutherford. As chef/partner of Sonoma Grill, accolades included three stars from The Bergen Record, an Excellent Rating from the Zagat Survey and Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence 2001, 2003 & 2003.
A Bergen County New Jersey native, Peter is a graduate of The French Culinary Institute, a recipient of the Best Chefs America Award in 2013 and a member of the American Culinary Federation. He honed his skills in places such as the Alpine Country Club, Beaugard's Restaurants and various hotels. The chef has presented demonstrations on News 12 New Jersey, at Bloomingdale's in Hackensack, Chef Central in Paramus, Williams-Sonoma and for the Ridgewood Community School, and his food has been featured in (201) Magazine and in local newspapers. He has also been an active participant in many charitable events for organizations including Share our Strength, Table to Table, Center for Food Action, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, West Bergen Mental Health Care, The United Way, Bergen County Community Blood Center and ARC of Rockland.
